"Secretary of State Control Number" consists of
seven digits, beginning with at least one zero (for example:
0123456). This type of control number is assigned to every
corporation, limited liability company, and limited partnership
formed or qualified in Tennessee, as well as to any recorded
assumed names for such business.
Reserved and registered business
names do not have a Secretary of State control number.
The control numbers for limited
liability partnerships are identified by the letters LLP followed
by four digits (for example: LLP0001). This online database
is not searchable by LLP control numbers; most LLP business
information is NOT available from this online database, but
may be obtained by contacting the Division of Business Services
at 615-741-4535.
